The Ancient Portal

cover

The train on my right,

is off to a beautiful sight

A vibrant forest where

dew drops shimmer

in the morning light

The train on my left,

it hasn’t come yet

When at last it does come,

blinking at the evening sun,

it’ll ride into the sunset

But neither train is for me

I travel quite differently

On the platform I find a bench

Seated right here I will quench

my thirst for travel and discovery

From my bag I pull out a device

It’s ancient but it will suffice

It can transport me through time and space,

to meet any people or go any place

For centuries it has been used by the wise

Perhaps you have see one too

But are unaware of what it can do

Or may be like me you are addicted

for limitless joy can be elicited

from books. I promise it’s true.
